JOB SUMMARY

The
President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain
limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we
are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a

serves as an Entry Engineerwithin one of the commands of Naval Air Systems Command.This is a public notice announcement; under this recruitment procedure, each location/installation, identified in this public notice will make selections for vacancies as they occur. JOB DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. BASIC ENGINEER REQUIREMENT FOR GS-5: [A] a degree in professional engineering: Curriculum must
(1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by
the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional
engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and
courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the
following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;
(b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics,
hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature
and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to
properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering
science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or
electronics OR B] combination of education and experience - college-level
education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough
knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional
engineering and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of
the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the
branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated
by ONE of the following: professional registration; written test (successfully
passed the Engineer-In-Training (EIT) examination or the written test required
for professional registration); specified academic courses (successful completion
of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and
engineering sciences and in engineering); OR related curriculum (successful
completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering
technology or in an appropriate professional field). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR GS-07
POSITIONS: In addition to the basic requirement above,
youmust meet any one of the following minimum qualifications: *One year of engineering work in
the same or similar work at a level of difficulty and responsibility that has
equipped me with the necessary knowledge, skills, or abilities to perform
successfully the duties of this engineering position. Specialized experience
would include: applying basic theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies
to achieve objectives; carry out, interpret, and explain basic computations and
calculations; and read, understand, analyze, interpret and convey findings; OR *Completion of a 4-year course of
study leading to a bachelor's degree as described above AND Superior Academic
Achievement at the baccalaureate level in a professional engineering

education, in addition to meeting the basic requirement that provided the
knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work; OR *Successfully completed a 5 year
program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree
in Engineering. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify.
The selective placement factor is a degree related to the position being
filled. Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible
rating. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your
transcript(s).
